Lady In Red

Hey guys!

Ahh it's been so long! I've been out on vacation the last week and have only been updating my Snapchat and Instagram. If you've been following me you will know that I've been hanging in the desert at Coachella! It was so much fun, and I had every intention of getting up a post this weekend, but haven't had the chance to upload all of my pics! For those of you that don't know you can't really bring in camera's to the festival grounds, so a lot of the content I got was on my phone - which means I need to sit down and air drop a few items to get them uploaded. But will have a pic heavy post from the event, hopefully by later this week.

That being said, I definitly wanted to get a new look up on the blog today! Looooving this red coat from Zara! I keep calling this my "lady coat" because I feel so girly in it lol. Super cute coat for spring, as you can truly wear it as part of your outfit, or as just a coat! I paired mines with a LBD, and some super fun fringed heels! For more on my look see below!

Trench Coats

Happy Friday!

So excited the weekend is finally here! So much going on within the next week, I have a shoot, and then traveling to LA for a couple of days! Happy to just take some time off and relax and enjoy myself. It's always good to disconnect from your every day hustle and bustle, and do some fun, new, and exciting things!

Love this combo I put together with this trench coat I picked up from Zara quite a while ago. Although I got mines a while ago, Zara always has this classic trench for sale, and in multiple colors. Spring is the perfect time to don a classic trench as it literally goes with everything! It can bring up your look, whether you have on just some regular jeans and a tee, or opt for a cute dress and heels!

Hey friends!

Was feeling productive and thought, why  not get a blog post up? Besides this bomb jacket I wanted to share with you and how much I adore it - I wanted to briefly discus the importance of staying in your light. I will be 100% honest with all of you, the last couple of weeks I have been going through so much personally! There's so many things that I want to do in my life right now, and it's so easy to feel like you are not progressing as fast as you think you should be, or things aren't happening as fast as you'd want them. I fall prey to this all the time. I get this bomb idea in my head about something cool to do for the blog, or an awesome project I'd like to work on, or even some life changes that I want to make, and if i'm being real with you ( which I always am) I want it to happen immediately. We are fashioned to hustle, and grind, and keep it pushing, so naturally we want our lives to progress as such. But in today's society ( and through social media) it's hard to stay centered and be patient with our wants and aspirations because that very thing you've been working hard on, let's say your publishing your first book, or trying to buy a brand new house - all you have to do is login on Facebook, or tap that IG app, and the first pic you see is of this random person that already has a book published, or moving boxes into a brand new $100K home! And not to take there blessings away from them ( you earned it boo boo) but it's easy to loose focus and get down on yourself, and beat yourself up, wondering why don't you have it like that? Why aren't you progressing the way you want? Then it spirals down, and you go deeper and deeper into the things you don't have or want to do but cant - and ultimately it effects your everyday life! Even people or family can screw you up, and throw off your focus with their personal problems and/or negativity that they are projecting on to you.

Again - i'm speaking from experience, and this is something I battle with all the time, but one thing I always tell myself is , "Ash - stay in your light." If you continue to focus on the "whens, and why nots" then you can never get to the, "finally" and "it happened" part. By staying in your light, you are continuously reminding yourself of how bomb you are, and how your hard work WILL pay off, and that you WILL see the fruit of the seeds you once had sown. You are reminding yourself to be gentle with yourself, and that you are only human, and what God has planned for you - no man or woman can take away or mess up that plan...and get this...not even you can.

Totally didn't mean to get preachy - but that's how I was feeling today. :) Currently traveling, and since it's Monday I obviously wanted to get a post up because I really do love this jacket, and if you want my look the deets are below! But lately so many people, and things have been trying to steal my joy - and I'm just not going for it. So from my heart to yours - always stay in your light. No one can or will shine the way you do.

Hi babes!

Been a sec since I've gotten a blog post up, I've been super busy with regular life stuff you know? ;)
I'm so excited it's finally Spring! As much as I love a good long coat in the winter, and the ability to layer up my wardrobe when it's cool - I can just get so much more creative in the warmer months! Let's be honest - when it's cold you literally have to think of everything, coat, hat , gloves, scarf, pants, shirt, socks, and after all that will your shoes go with your outfit? I love the fact that in the Spring, the coats get lighter, but it's not much to think about! As it gets warmer, you can literally throw on a dress and call it a day right?

Since it's not all the way warm yet, but some days warm enough to not dawn a heavy coat - I opted for my new favorite blazer from J Crew! Love, love, looooove J Crew blazers because no matter what color, or pattern is on them - they always have such a classic fit. I love blazers in general because they are cute for work, but I dress mines down and don them with a pair of jeans and a basic v-neck tee. I also switched it up a bit and paired my blazer with a denim button up along with my jeans! I'm not one to do denim on denim, it just never looks good on me. But, with this patterned gingham print, it broke up my look. Or maybe I was just in the mood for blue. :)

Skirts, Skirts, Skirts

Hey ladies and gents - hoping everyone's week is off to a good start! Since were obviously starting to shift into the spring (but not quite yet) , I wanted to share one of my favorite staple pieces I have in my closet! I am so picky when it comes to skirts because I was blessed with hips and a butt, a gracious gift from my mother :) But I'm so picky because not all skirts fit right on me. I'm not a size 2 either, so pulling anything with pleats is a no-go, and miniskirts are truly hit or miss. I try to stick with skirts that are either pencil skirts, which is usually my go to, especially pencil skirts that have stretch to them. Or, i'll go for an A line skirt. I just think us curvy girls look so much better when the very thing that makes us stand out, is highlighted or accentuated in the looks we choose. You can find an A line anywhere - just make sure the top of the skirt is more narrow than the bottom. The bottom sure flare out ( imagine the letter "A") Simple right?

I found this perfect leather skirt at Zara! I love it because 1. it's an A line skirt and 2. it buttons in the front! Leather material gives over time, and the material softens, so I don't feel constricted or stuffed in when I wear it! I usually pair any skirt that I wear with a nice blouse that can be dressed up or down with a cute pair of pumps, booties (pictured) or if you're going really casual, a pair of riding boots!

Camel Coats & Low V's

It's 70 here in Chicago today ( and it's still February FYI) and what do you do, when you get a touch of spring in the winter? Put on a cute outfit and get outside! I mean I stepped outside and was like "Hey, girl, hey!" when I felt how amazing it was! I met my girls for brunch in this look, and spent as much time as I could out of the house! Such a great way to beat the winter blues, and not sure when it'll feel like this again...but I'm taking full advantage of it!

Finally broke out a coat I purchased from Whitefox Boutique a long time ago. It's one of those statement coats, that's not warm enough to wear in the dead of winter, but too hot to wear in the summer? I paired this camel coat with my fave low V bodysuit, some skinny jeans, and switched it up with a hat! This look could have easily been a winter look with a sweater, riding boots, and scarf , but was super easy to lighten up and add a spring feel to it.
