Skirts, Skirts, Skirts

Hey ladies and gents - hoping everyone's week is off to a good start! Since were obviously starting to shift into the spring (but not quite yet) , I wanted to share one of my favorite staple pieces I have in my closet! I am so picky when it comes to skirts because I was blessed with hips and a butt, a gracious gift from my mother :) But I'm so picky because not all skirts fit right on me. I'm not a size 2 either, so pulling anything with pleats is a no-go, and miniskirts are truly hit or miss. I try to stick with skirts that are either pencil skirts, which is usually my go to, especially pencil skirts that have stretch to them. Or, i'll go for an A line skirt. I just think us curvy girls look so much better when the very thing that makes us stand out, is highlighted or accentuated in the looks we choose. You can find an A line anywhere - just make sure the top of the skirt is more narrow than the bottom. The bottom sure flare out ( imagine the letter "A") Simple right?

I found this perfect leather skirt at Zara! I love it because 1. it's an A line skirt and 2. it buttons in the front! Leather material gives over time, and the material softens, so I don't feel constricted or stuffed in when I wear it! I usually pair any skirt that I wear with a nice blouse that can be dressed up or down with a cute pair of pumps, booties (pictured) or if you're going really casual, a pair of riding boots!

Camel Coats & Low V's

It's 70 here in Chicago today ( and it's still February FYI) and what do you do, when you get a touch of spring in the winter? Put on a cute outfit and get outside! I mean I stepped outside and was like "Hey, girl, hey!" when I felt how amazing it was! I met my girls for brunch in this look, and spent as much time as I could out of the house! Such a great way to beat the winter blues, and not sure when it'll feel like this again...but I'm taking full advantage of it!

Finally broke out a coat I purchased from Whitefox Boutique a long time ago. It's one of those statement coats, that's not warm enough to wear in the dead of winter, but too hot to wear in the summer? I paired this camel coat with my fave low V bodysuit, some skinny jeans, and switched it up with a hat! This look could have easily been a winter look with a sweater, riding boots, and scarf , but was super easy to lighten up and add a spring feel to it.

Be My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day my loves! I hope all of you have a beautiful day today, and take time to spend with the one or "ones" you love. :) Valentine's is probably my least favorite holiday, but I don't mind it because it's just another excuse to eat chocolate and cupcakes all day with no judgement! I do see that there are alot of single women this Valentine's day, and dare I say it, I think it's 100% okay to be single for Valentines. I actually don't mind being single on this holiday, because it gives me and my girlfriends an excuse to grab dinner, and drinks, and celebrate the beautiful women we are! We call this "Galentine's Day"! So if you are alone this holiday, and feeling bummed that you don't have a special guy to shower you with love today...don't worry...let those around you shower you with love! Spread some love to other people! Call your aunt you never talk to, just to wish her a Happy V Day! This day isn't about cards, teddy bears, flowers, jewelry, or whatever tickles your fancy. It's about love, and showing love to any and everyone you talk to this day.

So I love you, and sending you all my mushy gushy vibes today, and demanding that you feel empowered today, beautiful today, and most of all loved.

Layers To This Ish

Getting beautiful weather here in the Chi for winter, I hope it stays this way! (cross my fingers)
It's certainly not hot, but it's not too cold either so I'm getting away with certain pieces of my wardrobe, that should probably be stored away right now for winter :) **cue these knee high boots**  However, I was headed to brunch on Oak St., and couldn't disappoint myself or my girls for a good weekend slay! Loved playing with layers for this look. I wouldn't normally pair two jackets with two different hem lengths...but I fell in love with this cranberry jacket from Windsor! Instead of just wearing my regular leather jacket, that I absolutely love and adore, but the Windsor jacket gave it a completely different look! Outfit links below!

Weekend MOOD: Celebrations!

Ahh! Finally the weekend! Seriously this will be my mood. Balloons, cake, champagne, confetti...I mean I'm literally in celebration mode the entire weekend! Wishing a very special Happy Birthday to my Mama! (she's currently pissy about me not giving her any of my food, even though she's on her way out to dinner :) ) For those of you that know my mom, or have met her you know she is my world. If you're on Facebook, wish her a Happy Birthday!

Executive Order This

 Hey Lovelies!

It has literally been almost the entire month of January since my last post, but I have SO much in store for you guys moving forward! I got really busy with work, and travel, and then of course my birthday! I didnt get many pictures from my birthday, I was living in every second of the moment that day. I did however treasure every phone call, text, Facebook status, IG pic, #tbt pic, I mean you all truly showed me love on my day, and I felt every bit of it. My heart is full :)

As I mentioned, I have been working a ton on so much that I want to do with HRH and setting goals that I want to accomplish personally and professionally. I think it's so incredibly important, especially given the climate of our country right now to have some severe goals, and go after them relentlessly. It's so easy to get upset, and sad, and angry because I don't know about you, but every time I turn on my TV, or tap my Instagram app...there is another story on the disgusting way our country's core values are literally being thrown out of the window. I'm not going to voice my opinion on HRH or share my true feelings, because I want to keep this space a 100% positive place for me to share my ideas, thoughts, and of course outfits with you all! But I will share how important it is right now, to have some direction.

In the first pic for this look, I'm mid laugh, trying to be serious with my photographer. However this pic, captures exactly how I feel on the inside, even in the midst of what is going on today. At ease, full of faith, & knowing my purpose. Times are bad, and from the looks of it will be getting incredibly worse, and you know what? No matter what the next executive order is, it won't take my faith. It won't take my purpose away. As an African-American educated woman, there is literally nothing I can't do. Once I make up my mind, I truly become unstoppable. It is my duty to make sure YOU know how unstoppable YOU are too. That there is nothing that YOU can't do. It is my deepest hope, that by me sharing the things that I love through this blog, living fearlessly and fabulously, and ultimately being relentless in my pursuit of going after and getting everything that I want in this life...that you too find your ease, and truly believe that there is nothing you can't do. Regardless of what is on our TV's, what our co-workers say about us, who wrote you off and told you that you were never going to be anything. Regardless of what your bank account says, or even those that think you don't deserve a seat at the table, and you know what table I'm talking about. To hell with them...to hell with it all. It is your birthright, to go after, to be, to achieve, and to become anything and everything you want...& there is nothing or no one that can take that away from you. Executive order that....

So we just gone act like I didn't get an outfit post up though? LOL. This look made me feel super feline with my fur & platform heels. I've been getting into platforms lately, and I'm already kind of tall...whatever. I felt fabulous! Click the link to learn where I got these items from!

Be fearless my loves...and do it relentlessly...
