Let's Go Bulls!!

Oh how I love Chicago....
We have the best skyline...Michigan Ave....the Blackhawks...Buckingham Fountain..State Street...Derrick Rose back on the court! Yes! The Bulls baby! Was I bragging? Absolutely. I love Chicago...the only place you can get every season in one week! Lol.
My girlfriend scored tickets to see the Bulls play last night, and she graciously asked me to go with!  Who would turn Bulls tickets down? Ladies it was so much fun! Not to mention we had some really great seats! Have you ever seen the Bulls play? I recommend buying tickets next time your in Chicago. A little pricey, but definitely worth the bucks! Here are some shots from last nights game.

How about these seats!

Hey girl Hey! She is most certainly Queenbee of the Duckface! : )

Napple Tarts

Hey girl hey! Happy Monday! This past weekend my girlfriend Jackie from college paid me a sweet little visit. And oh was it sweet! Along with her came a bottle of Cupcake Moscato D'Asti, which by the way was so tasty. I'm not a Moscato drinker, they tend to be too sweet...but it actually ended up being really good! In college we were big on sweets, and always found a stash somewhere in the residence halls when the dining halls closed lol! I wanted to bake her something simple, yet sweet. Something that wouldn't take too long, but was super delicious. I found this recipe while browsing Eat Yourself Skinny. Kelly always has some really good recipes that I'm hashing out in my kitchen! You can find the recipe here. I added to the recipe and changed it around a little bit. Here's to your sweet tooth!

Napple Tarts

  • 1 Box of Phyllo dough

  • 1 (20 oz) can pineapple chunks, drained (or fresh pineapple)

  •  2 Tbsp light butter

  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp. Peach Snapple

  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

  • Lite Reddi-Wip, for topping

1. Thaw your dough for 2 to 3 hours in the fridge.  The longer your phyllo thaws, the better your cups. You can buy these pre-made, but I opted to make my own. After thawing,  cut your sheets in fours. This saves dough for later use, and makes them smaller to use as cups.
2.  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease your muffin tin. My muffin tin only holds six, but that’s all needed.

3. Lightly brush melted butter on each sheet before placing them into the muffin tin cups.  This doesn’t have to be perfect, I just lightly brushed each of my sheets with a little butter for a little crunch. This also makes the cups a beautiful brown color.

4. Place 7 to 10 sheets in each muffin tin cup.  You want them thick enough, so that the pineapple juice does not leak through once they are filled. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

5. Melt butter in a skillet and pour in drained pineapple chunks. Stir in all ingredients brown sugar, cinnamon, and Snapple juice. Saute pineapple for about 5 to 6 minutes, breaking apart the chunks, until caramelized.

This next step depends on your preference.

6. You can either let the pineapple mix cool down for about 30 mins. in the fridge. Spooning the mix into the dough cups right away made the bottom of my cups really soggy because of the moisture and heat from the pineapple mix. After about 10 minutes the entire cup had fallen apart. ( So I strongly recommend cooling first).

But, they tasted great warm and right out of the oven. Once your cups are each filled, top with Reddi-Wip and enjoy!

Lushin for LUSH!!!

Hey Queenbees!

So I have totally conformed myself into a LUSH fanatic! I am in love with their products, and I find myself in Macy’s every Friday picking up my stash! LUSH is a brand that sells fresh handmade cosmetics. They make everything from lip scrubs, body conditioners, natural hair essentials, and my favorite..bath bombs! These products smell so good, and since they are all natural they are good for the skin. All ingredients added in them, you can pronounce, and it’s definitely QueenBee budget-friendly! Here's what I bought:

LUSH only buys ingredients from companies that do not test on animals, and are firm believers in testing on humans. Hence the ever so popular, and recyclable bag.

Recently I only purchased a few bath bomb products, and a bubble bar. They are listed here from left to right. 1. Big Blue 2. Twilight 3. Big Blue ( Bottom) 4. Amandopondo (Bubble Bar)  5. Butterball

Ladies all LUSH products have ingredients in them that stimulate the skin. Butterball (5) is used for mostly dry skin, and contains Cocoa Butter, Vanilla, and Ylang Ylang oil.

This past summer I've only been addicted to Big Blue and the Amandopondo Bubble Bar. Basically you just run a bath, and toss one of these bombs in, and surprise! Each LUSH bath bomb does something different to your bath water! In the Big Blue tiny particles of Arame Seaweed disperse into the water, softening the surface, and releasing it's nutrients. Not to mention your bath water turns into a perfect, Mediterranean blue. : )

I have comitted myself to trying out all of the LUSH products, will be doing a full review on LUSH Cosmetics very soon!

Let's Talk: ♛ First Kisses ♛

Aahh..the first kiss. Do you remember yours? Was it everything you imagined? Or was it something you’re still trying to forget? Your first kiss ever…or the first kiss you have with the one you love? My very first kiss was…not so magical? I was fashioned to believe that like in movies, I would be swept away after the first kiss. It would be soft, and with each peck I’d fall deeper and deeper in love with him. Cut the music! Let’s just say my foot didn’t pop, no music played, and I didn’t have Judd Nelson walking through a football field thrusting his fist in the air knowing that he got me! (I told you ladies I watch movies) Reality had me on a date with a football player at the local movie theatre. He wasn’t the star of the team…but he was handsomely tall. And though he didn’t play too much, he had the sweetest smile. I don’t even remember the movie we went to see  due to the fact that I was so nervous and my oxygen levels were low. Two hours prior I had practiced, yes I practiced. On anything clean that I could practice on! It was so not the right time, nor mood, and he just leaned over, grabbed my face and kissed me. Now you see…I’m a thinker. My mind never stops. So in that moment…all I could think about was how this definitely didn’t go as practiced, and my foot wouldn’t be popping off this sticky, infested floor. My First Kiss and I didn’t last very long. We are actually good friends! He is still handsomely tall, and tons of girls ended up falling for his sweet smile:)  Ehh….to the good ol’ days.

Tell me about your first kiss! Was it magical? Did your foot pop? Or to those Queen Bee’s  that realized that their first kiss, ended up being their last first? Ha! Happy Tuesday Queen Bee’s! And remember to always Be Fierce, Be Queen, and Be You!

DIY Fleece Blanket

Hey ladies! The past few weeks have been so hectic, I'm so sorry I haven't given you all any updates! Thank you so much to those of you who emailed and messaged me, checking for updates. I'm glad you ladies are looking forward to my post! But I have some really exciting upcoming post to share with you...cue this super cute (super cheap), super warm fleece! Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. It's not too hot...not super cold...just right in the middle where I like it : ) So it's safe to say that we've officially turned off the air this year, and it's time to pull out the blankets! These blankets were incredibly easy to make, not to mention cost efficient, and would make for great gifts! Here is how I made mine:

DIY Fleece Blanket

  • 2 1/2 Yards of Fleece ( of both colors) *I bought the fleece on sale at the local fabric store, prices range depending on the type of fleece you use, and the different print.
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

1.  Place your two layers of fabric on a large sturdy surface. You can see here that I used the floor. Place one layer on top of the other, lining them up as close as possible.

2. If there are sides that are hanging out, or too large, trim them off. Essentially you want both layers to match in size.

3. Next, you will need to cut a 4in. square from each corner of the blanket. You may want to use a ruler, I just estimated my square. It does not have to be perfect, but something really close. This helps later when it is time to combine both layers together. It should look like this:

4. Cut strips on all four sides of the blanket, through both layers. These strips should be 2 to 3in. in lenght, and about 1 in. wide. Of course I didn't have a ruler, so I just put two fingers together, and made my cut. Place two fingers, cut again, so on and so forth...until the entire blanket has little strips cut along the edges of each side.

5. After all four sides are cut, you are going to go through and double knot every other strip. So start on one end, grab (in this case) a piece of cheetah fleece, and a pink piece from the bottom and double knot them. Skip the next set, and continue to double knot.

6. Once every other strip has been knotted, flip the entire blanket over, and double know the rest of the strips. Be sure to know them so that there are no gaps between each strip. This prevents the blanket from coming apart in the wash!

7. Your finished product should look like this!

And wala!  A super cute, (super cheap), super warm fleece blanket! I absolutely love this blanket. I am currently wrapped in it now as I post! So how did you do?
