Goodbye November

How was everyone's Thanksgiving?! Is the time flying or what? I can't believe it's already December.  I ate entirely too much over the Thanksgiving holiday, but it was beautiful to say the least. For those that know me personally know that I come from 2 very large families. My dad and brothers flew in from Texas, and we had Thanksgiving dinner at my grandmas. My family members have moved all over the U.S. so I had aunts/uncles and cousins coming in from Florida, Pittsburgh, Detroit, New York...I mean I could go forever. Because everyone lives so far we don't get together on my dad's side as much but everyone came home for this Thanksgiving and it was such a treat. I literally ate my weight in food. We had 3 turkeys, 4 hams, homemade macaroni, greens, dressing (black people's stuffing :) ) spaghetti, ribs and I'm probably missing so much more! For dessert we had several sweet potato pies going, strawberry cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, ice cream cake, apple cobbler, peach cobbler...I'm not kidding when I say I can keep going. :) It was so much fun though, we laughed until we cried, we played games, took countless selfies, and meaningful conversations, and most of all loved so hard on one another for the holiday.

So since we are now officially within the holiday season...'tis the season to slay honey! Sharing my favorite fall look with you guys. These thigh high boots have made several appearances on this blog...but the weather has been so nice here in the Chi, and I'm rocking these as much as I can before they have to be put up until next year. :) I paired my fave boots with this cute babydoll dress from Lulus. Never thought I could pull off a babydoll dress because I have wider hips, and shorter flowy dresses such as these make me look frumpy and the hem is super high. However when paired with some over the knee/thigh highs such as mine...they really elongate the body, and really gives the babydoll dress a different look! This dress was so cute, and it had bell sleeves! If you haven't already noticed, I'm getting into fabrics that move with my body, and not so much the tight/fitted looks. They just make me feel good. :)

I've been missing in action on social media, but I'm back! I wanted to be completely present when I was with my family over the holiday, and enjoy every second with them. :)

Kept it super casual today running around doing last minute errands for the holidays this week. I kept my look simple with my fave pair of boyfriend jeans, and casual black tee, and paired them with this super cute bomber from Windsor for under $50! Also, I've been getting a lot of compliments on my new winter hat, which look just like Mickey ears, and I absolutely love it! My hat is from Akira! You can read all about my recent shopping experience at Akira in my previous post

Peace, Love, and Big Blessings to you and your family this Thanksgiving! My dad and little brothers will be in from Texas this week, so I'm really looking forward to spending some time with them. Also, everyone on my mom's side SWEARS they can cook sweet potato pie...but anyone that's tried mine knows there's truly no comparison. Needless to say my uncle has declared war today on Facebook Live, and called me out live, stating that I didn't know what I was doing. This week, tune into my Snapchat as I will be sharing all of my Thanksgiving favorites, AND claiming the family victory of making thee best sweet potato pie. :)

Back At It

Hello friends, good to be back on the blog. I haven't posted in almost 2 weeks now, as I had every intention of getting a post up last week, however with the election my plans had changed. I needed to take a break from social media, and just media in general for a while to gather my thoughts and figure out how I was feeling, before I began putting my thoughts out there for you to read. Last week, I had every intention of this post being about the election, and about how excited I was for our nation, to finally have a woman on the ballot running for president. Needless to say that excitement fizzled, literally as I was typing this post, and watching the election results, and watched my country turn red Tuesday night.

I'm still getting myself together, and coming to terms with how I feel, not only about the recent election, but the incredulous hate that has been a result of this election. I am also enamored by the love, support, and fearlessness of the Americans that did get out and vote, and are standing up for what is right. Who do not sit behind their Facebook statuses, or Instagram comments - that continue to feed hate into this country - but are out doing something about it. Letting their voices be heard, letting their opinions be known, and most of all loving hard on one another because let's be real...this isn't just a black issue anymore.

Like I said, still gathering my thoughts, and will certainly speak on the topic when the time is right for me, because trust me...I do have something to say. But still wanted to get back up and let you know that I'm still here, and this blog post became even more important to me. As it should to you. Not my post in particular, but we can't let this knock us down. God ALWAYS has a plan. You may not know Him, but I do, and let me tell you...He has NEVER left me, nor forsaken me. Even in my darkest moments, He has never failed me, and He will not fail you.

Still feeling good in November...and have a lot to be grateful for! Here's my look for today, entire outfit from my friends at Akira (see previous post). It's still in the mid 60s here so I'm milking this weather for everything it's worth!

Snake Skin

Happy November!

How was your Halloween? Growing up Christian I wasn't raised to celebrate Halloween, so I didn't really dress up or go trick or treating. Typically on Halloween night we'd go to the local pizza place and have "Hallelujah Night" with a bunch of other kids from my family and church. We still got our candy feels, however I didn't dress up as much as the other kids did. I did (and still do) marvel at the creativity and effort so many people put into their costumes. I mean did anyone see Bey's costume this year? Her and Jay were Blue's Barbie dolls....and they looked so cute!I wanted to share this look with you guys, as if I were to dress up for Halloween...I'd call myself the "SlayQueen" because there is nothing I enjoy more than slaying a good outfit, and knowing that I did just that! This look made me feel real "Ravenna". You know the mean queen from Snow White & the Huntsman? The details in this look were to die for, with the snakeskin sleeve, that I paired with a leather skirt, and snakeskin purse. For my outfit details, and how to replicate my look keep reading!

Also sending love to my girls at the State Street Akira who hooked me up with this bomb top, and some other goodies! Thank you ladies, you guys are the greatest!

Slay On...
